  1. Hi,watched a couple of your videos and were interested while watching them, which is a plus.
I also clean carpets but very recently have been finding that the dilution rates recommended are no where near what is required to do any sort of decent job, with some chemicals I’ve been having to nearly double the amount of chemicals, then spend a bit longer rinsing the carpets. Do you have problems with dilution ratios?

    1. Hi Mark,
thank you for your recent comment on my blog. I must say, that the pre-spray carpet cleaning solution I used is designed to work at a certain dilution rate. For instance, 4-1 or 8-1. The cleaning solutions I used was from Prochem. My understanding of Prochem products is that the recommended dilution rates are rigorously tested in labs. The solutions are designed to work at optimum performance at the recommended dilution rate.

I have also discovered that putting too much solution into a mix is not good. These prespray solutions are very powerful and they contain all sorts of cleaning elements. What can happen when the dilution rate is not what’s recommended is, the solution can rot the carpets from the underlay.

You are right to rinse out more thoroughly with a greater mix. But I would seriously suggest that you seek out, find and use a better performing solution. This will mean that you may have to use a complete range of products which are all from the same manufacturer.

If you are using prochem products, my experience of them was very good. If I ever came across stubborn soil, I would repeat the pre-spray and brush agitation in order to remove the soil. This worked every time.

Please feel free and reply to this e mail if you like. I’ve written this for you in confidence. I hope it helps.

  2. ok shane all your vids are spot on I am going to order some rinse ect from prochem by the way I got in touch with ashbys about the electric agitator and they told me that I can use it on wet or dry carpets regards eric.

    1. Hi again Eric,
having looked at your comments on my blog, I was wondering, can I use some of them. I would like to select a few of them and use them as mini reviews. I would probably make a blog post and select 4 or 5 of your comments for inclusion. would you mind?

    1. Hi Lee,
Extraction plus is slightly cheaper than fibre fabric rinse. you can also use extraction plus in very hot water where as fibre fabric rinse solution the water temp needs to be lower. Extraction plus is also good for cleaning man made carpets types, fibre fabric rinse is best used on natural fibres and wool rich carpets.
